The January, 2024 Seabreeze is a bit late due to a bit of burnout from the holidays and several of us being sick. But we are getting back on track! On Sunday, January 7th we organized a work party and put away the Christmas decorations, repaired furniture and cleaned up both storage units. We will be organizing a work party to clean and organize the galley. We are looking forward to having everyone participate in future work parties to complete ongoing projects and start new ones.

The Board will be assigning the 2024 Watch Captains and Teams at the next Board meeting. Members will be assigned two months out of the year to help with activities. If you would like to be assigned to certain months or to a particular Watch Captain, let us know by emailing infosryc@gmail.com. Please note: Due to a considerable shortage of participation, the Board is considering a proposal to charge additional membership fees for those who cannot perform their Watch Team duties. We will talk about this at the next board meeting.
5.6 All members shall be willing to participate in the scheduled activities of the San Rafael Yacht Club. Pursuant to this end, the membership shall be divided by the Board of Directors into six watch sections, with each section responsible for two months of watch duty during the calendar year.
5.7 Failure to perform reasonable watch duty may be grounds for disciplinary action by the Board of Directors.
The current officers and the majority of directors are now serving their third year in office, which is not in compliance with our governing bylaws. The club should have fresh new leadership every couple of years to eagerly navigate the needs of the of the yacht club and its members. The Board encourages members to step up as flag officers and directors to take over the leadership. Talk to a Board member or let us know by emailing infosryc@gmail.com.
8.2.2 No Director at Large shall be elected to the Board for more than two terms (two years) in succession.
8.6.1 The Commodore, Vice Commodore and Rear Commodore shall not be elected to the same Flag office for more than two successive years.
On another note, a lot of members have not yet paid their dues. Please send in payment ASAP and if you are having financial difficulties, please contact me to work it out.

BUILDING REPORT
There are some projects still pending at the club. The dock and electrical repairs are almost done. The new signage is on site and waiting to be installed. The delay on installation is due to the bad weather. So keep your eye out, we hope to install them on a clear day very soon.

The holiday decorations and lighting looked great this year. Thank you to all who helped to set up. The holiday lighting parade was a lot of fun as many members put there boats in the parade this year. Many thanks for taking friends, family, and members on their boats for this event. And thank you to those who helped take down the decorations. Be safe, Happy New Year.
