Greeting Members,

The Car Show & Shine held on Sunday, July 14 was a great success with 35 entries. We hired a great rock & roll band and grilled hotdogs & hamburgers. We had lots of volunteers to help with guest parking, grilling and bartending. It was a really fun time and should be even better next year.

HEAD'S UP! The bar will be closed for renovations starting August 25 - September 14. Marty Thomson is volunteering his woodworking expertise to refinish the countertop after several decades of use. Anyone with finish skills are encouraged to help. I will let everyone know if a temporary bar will be set up in the dining area.

The pier project is staring on Monday, August 12. There won't be any interruptions to the patio area. So feel free to enjoy the rest of the summer here at the club.

Jerry

Hello everybody,

To get you excited to come back and hang out at the club bar if you haven't been here in a while, the new bar stools have arrived! We are so grateful to Marcy Hanley, PC. Marcy was a legend in the yacht club community and she was adamant that the money only be used to update our bar. Thank you Marcy. I hope you love them!
At the July PICYA delegate luncheon at San Francisco Yacht Club, Ernie Bergman, SRYCA President, attended the meeting with David Sullivan, PICYA delegate & PC, to donate money raised for the annual wheelchair regatta on September 28th. (See flyer below.) The donation included $500 voted in favor of by SRYC members. Joan Marsh, PICYA Staff/Past Commodore also pictured.
Stephanie and Marty Thomson celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July 20th. We surprised them with a little cake during happy hour.
RBS ABC certification is a requirement to serve drinks 🍷 🍺 🍹 to others. We are a volunteer club and we need as many able bodied people as possible to get trained. I have “tokens” for the training and can send you the link: Send me your email address by text or email: 415-999-6422 eventssryc@gmail.com.

Nominations for officers and directors are coming soon. Ready to serve on the SRYC Board? Talk to any officer or director if you are interested in serving on the board of directors or have any questions about the position.

Boaters-Fleet List: We need an updated list of our fleet not only for our club but for the PICYA yearbook. Kayaks, paddle craft or dinghies included. Email me at eventssryc@gmail.com with your boats' name, length, beam, sail or power along with a fantastic photo to hang in the bar.
Speaking of which, a new boat was added to the fleet last month. Derek Glazzard bought Tchoupitoulas (Chop-a-tool-us), a 1970 Santana 22' from Roland Braun (former member of Loch Lomand Yacht Club and potential new SRYC member.) Roland & Lisa were at happy hour at SRYC and were taking the boat to the Delta the next day to give it away … when luck would have it. The engine wouldn't start and Roland was having a hard time getting it to run. Derek got there just in time to take it off Roland's hands and saved him and Lisa a long trip. They sealed with deal for only $1. Congratulations Derek!

Hello everyone,

The SRYC Auxiliary is working diligently on our activity schedule for the rest of 2024. The Nominating Committee is nominating and elections for the new 2024-2025 Board of Directors will be at the Friday, September 13th auxiliary meeting. Our installation luncheon will be held offsite on Saturday, October 19th at Via Piccola Trattoria.

The Events Committee is planning . . . put Saturday, September 21st on your calendar for an Auxiliary sponsored event (TBA) for the Tower Park cruise-in . . . AND, our annual Christmas party will be held at the Club on Saturday December 14th. Bring your appetite, your holiday spirit, and a gift to exchange.

The Sunshine Committee is sending sunshine out to our members for birthdays and “get wells.” The SRYCA sends our best love and support to members who are currently experiencing unexpected health challenges, we can’t wait for you to be back with us.

Please put these dates on your calendars if you haven’t already. These activities would be a great time to pitch in and fulfill your promise to help out.

Also, think about attending our next meeting on Friday, August 9th at the Club. Meetings will always begin at 1800 hours (6 PM) on the Second Friday of every month. Come on down and join the fun . . . put your two cents in with ideas for future parties, dinners, and other activities . . . let’s get involved !!!!

-Ernie

The goal is always to provide enjoyment and opportunities for fund raising.
