Opening Day on the Bay: Theme – San Francisco Bay, Leading the Way
April 24, 2022 @ 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
$95Opening Day on the Bay, coming up this year on Sunday, April 24, with the theme “San Francisco Bay — Leading the Way.” Opening Day was loosely organized by the Corinthian Yacht Club in the 1890s and has since been more formally run by PICYA since 1917. It is the most well-recognized PICYA annual event.
All Boaters are invited to participate in Opening Day on the Bay. We need boats of all sizes. You do not need to be a member of a Yacht Club nor pay a fee to participate in the boat parade along the SF Waterfront.
But you do need to register your boat – to get your parade position and timing. Prior to the start of the Parade at NOON – head to Raccoon Straight for a blessing on your boat by the GOD SQUAD on the AURORA IV.
Everyone is welcome to purchase a ticket to be onboard the official PICYA Committee Boat – the Cabernet Sauvignon – which includes a sit-down lunch and a narration of the boat parade. The Cabernet Sauvignon leaves on time from LUX Cruises in Alameda where there is plenty of free parking.
